Does "Hide alerts" deactivate "Sharing focus status"?

Hi guys. Hope you're doing well.

I would like to confirm something.

If you toggtle the "hide alerts" option on iMessage, will that impact the "sharing focus status"?

I always have my phone on Do Not Disturb Mode, and when someone is texting me, it will show a notification that I have my notifications silenced (because I'm sharing my focus status.)

But a friend of mine can't see that notification. And the only different thing/setting I have between this person and my other friends is that I have the "hide alerts" option enabled.

Could someone with two iPhones can confirm me whether or not I'm correct?
