Does iLife/iWork transfer to Leopard by just dragging?

Could one drag the iPhoto/iDVD/iWeb/Pages/Numbers etc. icons ("packages"?) onto a DVD-RW in Tiger and copy them back onto a Leopard installation and run them? Or are they tied down to files elsewhere in the system and thus aren't "moveable" and require a fresh install in Leopard?

Additionally, how would one transfer Mail messages, settings & smart mailboxes from Tiger to Leopard? And iPhoto photos and events?

You could probably do that with other apps, but not these ones... these are pretty complex and probably have other dependencies.

To backup your pics, make a backup of you iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder.
