Does iMovie 09 gets sluggish to anyone else????

I was working on a project on iMovie on my MBP. It consists mostly of pictures, mp3s and transitions. Now when I first start running the program, everything works smoothly, but after a while, iMovie gets kind of sluggish. Now everything else in my comp continues to run smoothly, except for iMovie 09. My comp specs is, 2.53GHz, C2D, 120GB SSD, 4GB Ram. Could this be a ram issue????

I'm thinking about getting iMovie 11. Is it any better than the previous version?

I have another question. I don't want to start another thread so I'm just going to ask it here.

I'm thinking about upgrading my ram to 8gb and I would like to know what brands do u guys recommend.
