Im not sure if it's bc I'm using aftermarket chargers or what but it tells me not charging... Does it have to be the actual iPad charger to get an adequate charge?

That sucks, I bought my iPad in the US (couldn't be bothered waiting for iPad 2 and it was $100 off so why not) and of course I can't use the wall adapter here in Australia, so I've been using the iPhone one - I was wondering why it's been charging so slowly. So for a decent charge I have to buy an Australian iPad charger or a US plug adapter to use the charger that came with my unit :( you always learn something helpful from random threads!

So the supplied charger does put out more juice than the iPhone charger? Thanks! Any idea what a spare one of goes for?

The iPad charger is rated at 10 Watt (2.1 Ampere), whereas the iPod / iPhone charger is only rated at 5 Watt (1 Ampere).

Can't you just change the prongs? The charger is universal 110-240V.

The one from the iPod / iPhone charger (old design) should fit or even from your Mac notebook, if you have any.

Providing the iPad is off it'll charge fairly quickly.

Ie plug the charger in then hold the power button!

My iPad 1 charges at normal speed, when using my iPhone 4's charger, but was twice as slow, when I used my 3GS' charger.
