For those of you experienced with Stage Manager on iPadOS, can you confirm whether video calls are still paused/ended when multitasking? For example, if a client sends me a link in the chat during a Google Meet or Zoom meeting, will I be able to open it without interrupting the call? Thanks in advance for any helpful insights.

I have just tried it for you - if the video app and whatever else (e.g. your browser) are opened on the same stage, it will work, you will be able to work in another app while videocalling, your video will be streamed. If you will switch to a different stage - the video will be stopped.

if I remember that correctly - in the past using Split View was stopping video right away, so it’s an improvement.

Thanks for doing that! Much appreciated.

I actually just tried to do this on my iPad 9 and, to my surprise, everything worked without any pausing. Picture in picture mode automatically worked with both Google Meet and Zoom on test calls whenever I switched to open a site link that I pasted to myself. Did another test with typing out notes while the call was active and, again, no pausing or other interference with the video call. I guess iPadOS was updated to support multitasking during video calls outside of Facetime.

I mean there is an API allowing to do that, it wasn’t available for everyone afaik. Try something more niche, like Jitsi or Telegram, maybe it won’t work
