Are they selling the iPhone 4S with the iOS 5 homescreen on the box? Anyone know where to buy a brand new iPhone 4S with the original iOS 5, or 6 software? Thanks

I'd love to purchase a brand new iPhone 4S with guaranteed iOS5 or 6.
Is asking Apple to locate a box in the back of the store with the older iOS on the box lid reasonable and would it work?

they will tell you "we update them before selling them" witch is complete BS, but thats what they told me when i asked...

The new 8 GB model shipped strictly with iOS 7 so the simulated image will reflect that.

Offer to buy a 16 GB or 32 GB if they have them in stock still. They never shipped with 7.

Can an iPhone 4 still be purchased brand new at an Apple store? I know they're now marketing them in India, for example but wasn't sure they're still MIB being sold locally.

(And, thanks for the suggestion of buying a 4S in the 16GB format now knowing they never did ship with 7.0)

No problem. If they sell it with iOS 7 then it was either refurbished or opened already.

iPhone 4 are no longer being sold at Apple Stores, they might be sold at small carriers like Virgin Mobile due to their cheap price.

To the OP iPhone 4s sold at many small carriers are sold with iOS 6 usually (this is relevant as of December of last year) . I recently got a device replacement for a 4s (due to dead pixels) and it was on 7.0.4 and it was the 64 GB model. I assume most iPhone 4s in the Apple Store are updated at least to iOS 7 since even my 64 Gb was even updated while third party sellers may still be under iOS 6.
