Just wanted to know if the 4S shipped with iOS 6 after the release of the iPhone 5.

Nope. I just picked up a new 4S and (thank god!) it still had 5.1.1. You might ask first, though. ATT's site also says 5.1.1.

As usual the case, it DEPENDS where u get it from. Third party probly old stock 5. Directly from Apple, u may get 6.
