I have a BMW with a digital key that uses my phone as a key. BMW says my phone is required to have an UWB chip, which my current iPhone 16 pro has.

However, I pre ordered the iPhone Air and just found out it doesn't have mmWave technology. Is this the same thing as UWB? If so I'll need to cancel my order because losing a digital key for my BMW would be a dealbreaker.

The air has apple’s 2nd gen UWB chip which is used for things like NFC. The logic would be that it should work but worth just checking.

It's on the Air's specs page.
