I was running GM iOS 4.2 on my iPod touch 2G, and Airprint and Airplay both worked just fine. Now that iOS 4.2.1 is out, do Airprint and Airplay still work properly? I know that these features were removed from the iPhone 3G, and I am trying to determine if I should upgrade from 4.2 to 4.2.1 - advantages, disadvantages, etc. Thanks.

Did this a few hours ago on my 2g Touch.

Just make sure it's not an MC model (Sttings->General->About->Model) or it'll be a tethered jailbreak (have to be connected to computer for every reboot).

I was waiting for iOS 4.2 to finally jailbreak, and I was only interested in the wallpaper and multitasking/AirPrint functionality. So far, snappiness has taken a slight hit, but no problems so far. Printed an email earlier to test after enabling shared printer AirPrinting on OS 10.6.5.

Thank you so much. I just JB'd my 2G iPod Touch and am currently gonna do the iPad. Sucks that it's tethered but I don't mind doing it again in a few days for the untethered version.

I have a few links opened at the moment concerning wireless printing. I'll take a look at Hacktivator, along with printopia and a few other hands on methods..

...anything really to get wireless printing via my airport express and not my mbp.

How can I tell if I have AirPlay on my iPod touch 8gb 3rd gen with 4.2.1? I dont see the icon anywhere, even when i turn on my music or video. Do I need an appleTv airplay signal first in order for it to pop up on my iPod?
