Hi, I’ve had a few problems with signal on my 12 pro max. Done all the required steps that apple support asked me to try and then I took it into an apple store before lockdown in the uk and they said they’d replace it. Anyway I held off due to Christmas and was going to replace it in the new year. Here we are and the apple stores are closed. I asked apple support today and I don’t have apple care so I can’t have an express replacement and I don’t wish to be without a phone for a week. So they gave me a appointment at an “istore” tomorrow.
Can they replace the phone on apples behalf? Or have I been fobbed off a little and driving all the way for them to “have a look” at it?

I’ve never heard of them, guessing they’re Apple authorised repair centre?!

Yeah it’s seems so. Also called Albion. I mean I have the chat logged and apple are the ones that booked it so.... I just didn’t want to waste time driving 40 mins and then explaining yet again the issue for them to try to get me to go through the same steps over again and walking out without a resolution

So to answer my questions and for anyone else that ever runs into this situation. The answer is no they do not replace phones at least the iPhone 12. It was given to me as an option so I didn’t have to wait a week for a Replacement without a phone. Instead I’ve took half day off work and driven two hours for nothing. Not happy at all. Going to ring Apple let them know my thoughts

No, AASPs don’t have replacement devices. They need to order everything including any replacement parts.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Apple support provided incorrect advice to the OP. I guess there’s one option of the authorised service centre to order and then do a swap when people turn up with their devices but I believe even that would be challenging for Apple since these are not actually Apple outlets and they’d rather not lose the stock for keeping readily available devices in thousands of such service centres.
