Does iSub work on the (new) iMac?

I used the Apple Pro speakers with an iSub until recently on my G4 (MDD). Since the built-in speakers on the iMac by far don't match the sound of this previous set-up I was hoping to at least use the iSub, but it does not emit any sound. Any idea what the issue might be?
