At more than double the price of the new 27" LED its hard to swallow, but need the matte finish.

The 30 ACD still has the extra height in res which is better IMO. I'm not bothered it doesn't have the extra like iSight and speakers.

But how many of you would still buy a premium for the the 30 over the new 27?

I wouldn't. I would rather go get a dell, samsung, NEC, etc. They are newer models, likely better panels, and more than likely cheaper, at least for a dell or samsung. NECs are pricey but very nice.

I can't stand Dells. What model NEC/Samsungs would you recommend?

What's wrong with Dell monitors? Have had 2 x 3007WFP and currently using 1 x 3007WFP-HC and they've all performed great. I've sold my old ones to friends who wanted mine.

IMO 16:10 resolution is perfect, and you can match it up with rotated 20" 1600x1200 LCDs.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but why do you hate Dell displays? You realize they're often better or comparable panels (if you pay) than others, right? If it's about it being a Dell, well that's just a misguided opinion.

They look ugly. And that DELL logo just gives me the creeps * shudder * -- its as bad as MS

They all have a big logo. Buy an ACD, clearly that's where you're going despite a 30" ACD is a bad buy today in terms of value. I own one but it was a much better buy when I bought it. Not so much now.

But can you stand working in front of a glass screen 8 hrs a day? -- great for looking at yourself all day LOL but not for serious work

i would have to agree with Jess here Apple 30' inch is a bad buy at $1799. apple should of lowered the price on the 30'inch like Apple did with the 24" inch for the same price of apple's 30 inch I can wait and purchase two 27 inch LED displays for the same price of one Apple's 30-inch Cinema display, i wouldn't recommend buying Apple's 30 inch new to anyone unless if you can get it cheaper like refurbished or a used one off of ebay or craigslist i wouldn't pay full retail for 30' inch cinema display. I like the Dell 3008WFP it's aluminum also but i wish it came in silver instead of black, HP's ZR30w looks promising but i have to admit i like to have everything Apple for my computer setup but that just me, i'm planning to pick up Apple's 27' inch in September and for $999 i might just get two of them with ATi 5870 can't wait.

It's out of stock right now, but they come back in randomly, so keep an eye out for a while. I use one, as well as my 23" with a PowerMac G5, and it is just amazing. I love the matte so much more than the glossy. I would use the glossy if i worked in a pitch black room however. :)

We have two of the high-end Dell 30inch displays. Very nice panels. Superior to the Apple ACD - IMHO display quality as well as price.

Not to mention the WEALTH of inputs.

I think the 30-inch ACD doesn't is not HDCP enabled, which may not allow you to display HD content from blu-ray.

Other than that, I like the 30-inch ACD more.

30" ACD is a bad value right now unless you are more concerned about the logo.

I would opt for an NEC or if in a financial constraint the DELL.
