Does leather case protect against impact? Say you accidentally hit a wall while the device is in your pocket, or if you drop it from 5 feet. Would it prevent it from any dents, etc. or would it still cause some sort of internal damage?

There was a thread where a person broke the screen on their iphone 6 while it had an apple leather case on it. Fell from about waist high and corner hit the floor first. If you phone falls and hits a hard surface from 3 feet, most thin cases will not do much good.

A case will protect it from little dings like wall impact, but a 5 foot drop might be severe and definitely would risk damage. These leather cases are more of sleeves that protect from scratches and general bumps, not a drop.

For a drop, you'd need an actual thick case like a Tough Armor or an Otterbox.
