Hey i am interested by midnight color from iPhone 13 or 13 Mini, it looks really black in most of pictures and videos (YT) but many claims it has very deep navy blue tint
I wonder for anyone who owns Midnight color if its closer to black or navy blue tint is too distinguishable?

Thanks

Well, I have the Midnight leather case (not phone), and it's definitely in the deep blue family, but if you don't have something pure black right next to it to compare, it could definitely be mistaken for black unless you're in good lighting. But if you hold something actually black right next to it, there is a distinct difference. If you want something that's unmistakably blue, then I'd say it's not the color for you.

Thanks, i d prefer black over blue
I think Midnight color is the closest to the black color among any iPhone 13/Pro color this year
Why Apple doesnt give us a full matte black color like Samsung does for S21 Ultra?!

My husband has the iPhone 13 in "Midnight". For all intents and purposes, it looks black about 99% of the time. It's only if you really stare intently at it, and in the right light, that you can see it's really not black but just a very very very dark dark navy blue. But it's not at all like the "Midnight" of the Apple Watch 7th Gen, which clearly looks navy blue and cannot be mistaken for black.

It really depends on the lighting or it’s proximity to actual black as to whether you can see it, but there is definitely a navy blue tint to it.

I have a 12 Mini in Black and 13 in Midnight. Both are the exact same color -- black.

Are you meaning 13 and not 13 Pro?
13 Pro only comes with Graphite which is dark grey!

They are not the same color. One is dark navy, they other is neutral black.
Really? Then which of these is black and which is navy? To my eye they are the same, but each of us can make their own call. The only 13 in the pic is the middle phone, the two minis are 12's.

Under yellowish lights, very dark blue will look more black. Take them outside or hold them under more neutral light and you’ll see the difference.

I have the 13 mini in Midnight. It really depends on lighting conditions and the environment.

Under bright cooler (more blue) light, the midnight color looks very blue. Under warmer (more yellow/red) light, it will look much more black. I have bright 5000K light in my work from home area and the phone definitely looks navy.

My phone is in a black Spigen Tough Armor case, and the cutouts on the back definitely look more blue than the case in any lighting, although appear much closer in color under dim or warm light. My laundry room has warm white light and the phone looks nearly black due to the lack of light at the blue end of the spectrum demonstrated by Loosey Goosey's images.

That said, in most environments, the phone tends to look more black than blue. It really does take significant amounts of blue light in the spectrum to make the color pop.

Last year, i picked the white one over black because at shop, under lights, it has sightly very deep navy tint
This year, no matter if Midnight isnt true black lol, i got bored by white iPhone (Starlight is such disappointment to me)

Yes its subtle from your picture but i can see the iPhone 13 is less ''black'', still black but not deeper black than 12s
But they looks more black than navy/blue for sure

Hey, I’m a bit late, but it hasn’t been until now that I’ve had a midnight iPhone 13 in my home. Now that I can hold it with my own hands: No, it isn’t black, although it depends on the lightning, but on a well lit environment it is clearly a very deep blue. It is gorgeous, if you ask me. My favorite color along with the red one.

It appears black under dimmer conditions. The 13 Midnight had two colours essentially. The back glass and the chassis have different colours. The back glass will appear deep “inky blue” in bright conditions. The chassis however has a much more bluish hue to it. It actually looks closer to the Slate iPhone 5 under sunlight.
