I'm still on Sierra after all these years. I am considering updating the OS to high sierra. I heard about MS office 2011 might not get more support, and I'm fine with that if my apps just work so I can do my work. Does Office 2011 actually still work on high sierra? Like does it load up?

There are no more updates, but it works just fine.

^^^^Actually that's not quite true, there were many updates when MS dropped support in Oct of 2017. The last update is to version 14.7.7.

I can't seem to activate mine in El Capitan. The error says no internet connection to activate it. Very odd.

did you try the phone number on the CD? I had this too and called the support phone number on the orginal CD, punched in the serial and got an authorization number - was a few years ago

Thanks, figured it out. As a office subscriber, Microsoft allows downloading Office 2016 for the Mac if 365 doesn't work. So win win.

^^^^The latest release of MS Office is Office 2019, the latest release is V16.32. Office 2016 is at release V16.16.17.

From what I read, the activation server is offline now. Perhaps calling in works to activate. I have a Office 365 subscription so was able to download the latest version to work with El Capitan.

BTW, if you have Office 2011 on recent macOS versions - sometimes you need to fully update it before it will activate.
