Basically, I have two macs...a 2010 mini and 2012 MBP which have both been upgraded to Mavericks. Attached to the Mac mini is an external Firewire drive which has one volume on it shared between back-ups and storage of large files.
The Mac mini uses the external drive for Time Machine and then also shares the drive so that I can access it from the MBP. The MBP was also using the drive for Time Machine which was done by connecting to the mini, selecting the shared drive and mounting it to the MBP desktop. The drive would then appear in Time Machine Preferences and could be used by the MBP for back-ups.
This issue is that ever since I upgraded to Mavericks the drive, once mounted, will no longer show up in Time Machine Preferences.
Can anyone verify if this same method is still working for them while using Mavericks on one or both machines? The only way I can immediately think of in order to achieve the same setup again is to buy and install OS X Server on the Mac mini but I'd rather avoid that.
