I’m considering the Nifty Minidrive for the MacBook Air to double the storage but I’ve read it can affect battery life by not letting the computer get into a deep sleep. Is that true?

I obviously plan on keeping it plugged in the entire time, but I actually want to dedicate my iTunes library to the Nifty Minidrive without affecting the battery life.

Thanks!

Yes.. that is true. If you have anything attached via USB, that will prevent it from entering "standby mode" and the battery will drain much faster in sleep.

the nifty mini drive has no effect on my MBA's battery. I have been using it for nearly a year. No problem with MBA not going to sleep with it plugged into the SD slot.

My MBA goes into sleep nicely with the mini drive installed and I've noticed no extra battery drain. That's an interesting idea to use it for your iTunes library. How's it going thus far?
