Does Office 2008 support WordML format?

Office 2003 for Windows introduced a new format - WordML. Office 2008 for Mac doesn't support it. Does anyone know if Office 2008 for Mac supports it?

According to this article on Wikipedia, Office: Mac 2008 DOES support WordprocessingML (WordML for short), because it is a part of the Office Open XML format collection, the default format set in Office 2007 for Windows and Office 2008 for Mac.
