I recently ran into an issue where all my applications were deleted. (Including utilities.) I was able to get them back by transferring programs from another computer because I didn't have access to my restore dvds until yesterday. I now think that it would be a good idea to reinstall my utilities and program files just to make sure that they are all installed correctly using my restore DVD but I want to make sure that when I go to reinstall the OS that my documents, pictures, and other stuff doesn't get deleted. What do you think?

EDIT: I have a rev a macbook pro 15 inch with 1gb of ram.
