Does Reminders still work even though the program isnt running?

Does the app Reminders, from OS X Mountain Lion, still shoot the reminders even though it is not running? I am kinda new to using these reminders, and I want a particular homework reminder to chime in every week that an assignments due. Is there a way to do that?

Yep just make sure you set a time for it and how frequent you want it.

Yes sir they do. It's a system-level reminder (just like alerts in iCal) that runs all the time.

You need to open Reminders only to set, edit or erase reminders.
