I just had the 7200 rpm HD in my 1TB Fusion drive replaced due to disk failure. I restored from my Time Machine backup. Then I updated to 10.8.3.
Now when I try to do a new Time Machine backup to my external, the system hangs and freezes on Preparing Backup. Disk Utility verifies both drives just fine. The option to sleep HDs when possible is unchecked.
Things I noticed:
-When I go to the Time Machine menu, it says the latest backup date is the date of the backup one BEFORE my latest one (the one that I restored my system from). For example my latest backup was 3/1 and it says "Latest backup: 1/30"
-When the system hangs during a backup attempt, the normal HD disappears from the iStat menus monitor (SSD and external HD are still visible)
Does replacing a HD screw up Time Machine? Do I need to delete the backups off the external and just start a new backup? Is this related to 10.8.3? Thanks for any help
