Does restoring an iCloud backup cause notifications on other devices?

I'm surprising my wife with an iPad for Christmas and I'd like to set it up ahead of time with her most recent iCloud backup so she can begin using it right away. However, when I do that will it display any messages on her iPhone (iOS 6)?

I vaguely remember seeing a Messages notification along the lines of "[Name of device] is now using this phone number/email address" on an old iPhone when I was configuring my new one.

I don't want to spoil the surprise, nor is it practical for me to sneak/confiscate her phone for a couple hours while I set up the iPad.

Once you activate & set up your iPad with her iTunes account she will get a popup.
