Does restoring an iPhone/iPad erase the pics taken on it?

I'm unable to sync my photos to iPhoto (thread here) and I need to restore my iPhone 3GS to get the new iOS, 5 beta 4 (yes, I'm an Apple Dev.)

Question is, If I restore it, will the photos I took be erased?


I can't just click on "Update" to get the new iOS because its an iPhone 3GS and it can only be done the "old-fashioned" way... click Restore to update.

If I back it up on iTunes and restore it, it still won't delete the photos right?

Back up, restore, sync to backup. Your pics will all be there.
