iPod touch does restoring an itouch degrades to its original firmware

hey guys I have an itouch 2nd gen which originally came with 2.0 firmware and I upgraded it to 2.2.1 firmware. Now I want to restore it to its factory settings. So will my firmware go back to 2.0 and also what will happen to my songs and app stuff?? thanks

It will restore to 2.2.1 and your iPod's contents will be erased. They will be on your computer if they were initially, and then you can just resync everything back onto it.
