Does running Boot Camp for the first time wipe out what's on the mac?

I've already installed all my software on my new Macbook Pro but now want to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP. Will I loose what I've already installed on the Mac HDD?

Not unless you format the Mac's boot drive after partitioning.

Another thing to be mindful of is using a "system restore" disc version of XP from a prior computer can frequently wipe out the HDD as part of their standard process. They are just doing their job, restoring the system to facory conditions which would not have included OS X.

You should be using a clean/generic retail or OEM version of XP that already includes SP2. If not, be very careful!
