Does Samsung and TSMC chips really have the same architecture except the 14nm vs 16nm?

Is the architecture really the same? Or the architecture has to be kind of different to fit in 14nm? If the architecture is different, then there is possible that some ways of coding like geekbench can make one runs very different from another one.

Real world usage seems pretty much the same. Compared to friends phone and ours perform equal.
