I'd be grateful if someone could check to see if they can perform searches of their Time Capsule Airdisks.

I have an AEBSn and I can't for the life of me, get Spotlight to find anything on my airdisks.

Spotlight is designed only to search for other computers data on the network but not the data on a Time Capsule disk. When you use Time Machine spotlight within Time Machine searches the Time Capsule Disk.

In my experience, Spotlight works with the follow types of shares:

  • SMB mounted shares (Windows/Linux/Mac/AEBSn)
  • AFP mounted shares (from other Macs)

Spotlight fails to search volumes that are mount using AFP from an AEBSn. I was trying to establish if that's also the case with a Time Capsule. If it isn't the case, then maybe us AEBSn owners can expect an update to fix the problem.

Yes it will but you need to make a change in Finder Preferences.
Go into preferences in Finder then advanced, then under "When performing a search", choose "Search current folder" The default is Search this Mac
Now got to your Time Capsule and click on your main Time Capsule folder and search.
