iPhone 13 Pro Max Does subscribing through the subscription setting for apps work?

I noticed that I can subscribe for a photo editor app for $10 a year rather than the $30 yearly advertised price. Would it work to do this for apps to get a cheaper price? I don’t want to pay for this app so worried about testing it myself.
