Does the 13" i5 2018 MBP get toasty?

Hey all

I am currently playing with my friend non Touch Bar 2017 MBP model and what I really like about is the fact it stays cool to the touch most of the time, it almost doesn't heat up at all. (in contrast the 2018 15" I am testing right now is pretty hot to the touch most of the time)

I am also eying the 13" i5 2018 MBP , can current owners of this model (or the i7) can comment on how hot/cool to the touch is it?

My 2018 TB gets slightly warmer than my 2017 nTB i5 but nothing to complain about. I use it on my lap most of the time if that tell you anything.

Does it still cold after played 1080 in youtube for one hour ?

I had MBP 13 inch 2017 with i5. The bottom side will hot after the a hour of 1080 youtube video.

It's good to assume that 2018 won't run more cool in this regard, unless the cpu/gpu in 2018 has some video decoder that 2017 doesn't have and youtube uses the codec.
 
Mine (13" i5 2018) was quite warm for the first couple of weeks (to the point that I was worrying a bit, half contemplating returning, and downloading istat menus etc so I could keep an eye on it). However after that it's been running quite cool.

Usage is fairly light in general since I got it - mostly videos, Safari, steam. But for the first couple of weeks playing videos would get it warm. Now it still stays cool after several hours of videos...
 
If one runs computationally-intense workflows on it, yes, it will most definitely get warm.
 
the 15" 2018 I am testing now get's warm to the touch doing normal web browsing surfing and some Netflix video watching (not super hot but warm)
 
My 2018 13" i7 is pretty cool when web browsing and using office suite.

But, it get super hot when I use a second monitor. Also when watching movies. Not that it bothers me, I do get slightly concerned that it may get damaged. Then again, I've had a 2009 MBP and it still runs like a dream and my god that gets so hot it can be on my lap.

Yeah computers getting quite warm to even hot feeling isn’t really an issue objectively. So unless it’s your preference in general pay it little mind.
