I see from various tests that the 14" M1 pro/max run fairly quiet and cool when doing normal load and using the internal monitor only (but get hot/noisy when pushing it -exporting video, using xcode etc with a lot of mulit-tasking/apps open)

Does anyone out there have the new 14" connected to 1 or 2 4k displays? how is the fan noise heat under normal/high load?

I punish my computers with a lot of heavy code compilation, run times and virtual machines, so this is important. My M1 SSD is already 10% worn out from excessive and constant SSD writing by kernel task, presumably because I need so many apps running (including whatsapp/slack/teams/discord/office apps/compilers/windows vms etc). Despite all that heavy work, the M1 macbook is always silent, fans never come on with my 4k display always attached.

Note: I cant get the 16" as I have a bad back and cant lug it around.

I operate my 14" MacBook Pro with M1 Max on dual 4K displays alongside leaving my laptop open and using the internal display and don't notice any additional heat or fan noise. I work within applications that would be considered taxing on the GPU and Memory-heavy, sometimes using up to 45 GBs of the 64GBs of RAM I have.

Nothing to worry about - and this is coming from someone that had this concern and issue with every laptop he's ever had in the past.

I have my M1 Pro 14" connected to two 4K monitors with the lid closed. No fan noise (fan is mostly off), no slowdowns. It just works.

I have a 14" with M1 Max, using a 4K Display via HDMI and a 5K XDR in addition to the internal display. Never heard the fans, the performance is good.
