I'm just about ready to buy one of these in matte and curious if they still exhibit the screen flickering issue when its set on 1-3 brightness.

Anyone buy one recently?

What flickering issue? mine doesn't have this. if you read this forum enough, someone will have written somewhere an iPhone gave them AIDS.

Actually, it is a fairly widespread issue. I have the anti-glare version and it definitely does it. I phoned in and I might be getting a replacement. They sent me a free Nano because I bugged them about how disappointed I was in a glitchy $3000 computer.

I am just hoping for a firmware update to fix the issue.

Is yours a CTO or Stock model? I'm thinking of asking Apple about my flickring issue also but it shows up once maybe every 20 times i hit that brightness marker that I'm too lazy to change it.

This is the only reason keeping me away for right now. I had the 2.53GHz 15" mbp and if its brightness was set on 1-3 brightness it'll definitely have the flickering/pulsating effect.

yep, same problem still on my 2.53. 15"

Mine doesn't flicker at all. Also who uses there laptop on 1-3 brightness?

I did notice that that when I had my display set to adjust for ambient light that it did something that kind of looked like a flicker but it was just the screen adjusting when I moved in front of the sensor.

It's damaged. Take it in. My machine never flickers on any brightness.

Actually when I'm on battery power and away without a charger, I definitely use my brightness anywhere from 1-5 (preferably 1 notch) to considerably save battery life.

its a known issue. A lot of people just dont notice it or are not sensitive to the problem. Some people have gone through several new notebooks and have found the same problem.
