I was checking the specs on Apple's website and the 1TB cellular version has an eSIM? Is this true? If so, is the eSIM implementation the same as the current M4 cellular models? I just scan a QR code to get the process going?

Depends. Unlocked model, sure it works fine.

The eSIM on the Verizon model is gimped. Physical SIM card slot is unlocked.

I think Verizon only fully unlocked their iPads starting with the 2021 or 2022 models.

I bought mine at the Apple Store. So it's true that there is an eSIM? I had no idea. Was going to continue using the pSIM.

The 2018 iPad Pro is the first iPad model to come with eSIM.

For the 2016 and 2017 iPad Pro, they used a proprietary Apple Embedded SIM technology.

Thank you for the confirmation! Is there any difference in the eSIM specs and implementation between the 2018 iPad Pro and the 2024 iPad Pro? I think there was a difference for the early eSIM iPhones.

For iPads, I don't think so.

I don't believe there was a major difference for iPhones either. At least all the eSIMs that work on my 15PM also work on the 12 and SE 2020. The main difference I've noticed is iPhone 12 and older only support 1 active eSIM. Meanwhile, iPhone 13 and newer supports up to 2 active eSIMs.
