I can't believe I can't find any info on this and no tear downs have mentioned it at all. In pictures of the PCB, the chip is clearly different than on the 3G model, rectangle vs square and now branded with the word "APPLE" on it (before it was a shiny silver square). Does anyone know if the 3GS is now using the new Infineon 65nm Xposys chip, or is it still the same last gen Hammerhead II GPS chip that is in the 3G?

have you checked ifixit?

www.ifixit.com

Yes, and rapidRepair andI didn't see it mentioned on the teardown of eaither (unless one was updated in the last day or so). I'll recheck...

UPDATE: I checked, only labeled "infineon" in any of the updates to ifixit or the website they link to with an analysis of the chips.
