Does the App Store for OS X remember your purchaces?

I'm rebuilding my MacBook from scratch, will the App Store remember my purchases and allow me to redownload them as it does for iOS devices?
 
In fact it was one of the many features that Jobs/Apple advertised when the store debuted touting this as a positive feature.
