Does the Apple BF sale apply to refurb items (iPad) as well?

My father-in-law wants a new iPad because he decided he needs 3G (and his wife basically stole his), but he doesn't care whether its first generation or second. He just wants the best deal. Judging by the ads, he can probably snag a 16gb 3G iPad 2 for around $580 on Black Friday, right? Or he could just order a $399 refurb iPad 1 from Apple right now. I'm just wondering if that price will drop any more for the sale. I'm assuming not, but I'm wondering if this has ever happened in the past.

But I'm prepared to bet you will get a great deal. Best bet is to contact Apple, explain what you are after, and go from there. I've never bought refurbs, but have friends who have, and they have always been pleased with what they got.

Yeah I just bought the refurb, didn't realize that Apple's return policy extends to January 9th for the holidays. If I end up finding a cheaper deal I'll just send it back.
