I was thinking of going to my local store bc my son is getting a MBP but only if they offer a student discount in the store, because new with a discount he can get one for $1,099.99 or a Refurb same model for $1019.99 so I figured just go with new as he saves $100.

I believe that the student discount is available in store with a student ID (to a higher education establishment).

If you've got a Micro Center nearby, you/he may want to consider this deal as it's cheaper than the student discount/refurb MBP:

MicroCenter.com: MacBook Pro MC374LL/A $999.99
* Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
* 4GB DDR3-1066 SDRAM
* 250GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive
* 13.3" Widescreen Display
* 8x SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 320M
* 10/100/1000 Network
* AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wireless Network
* Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
* Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
* Silver

No I do not and since it is a Walk In deal only I can not do anything about it but thanks for informing me, however since I am going to buy a MBA and MBP I think I need to visit a store, as my son will be using one discount for himself, and my other son a discount for his MBA.

The Apple student discount on the MBA is $50 off, Micro Center also has the new MBAs for $50 off the list price, so it looks like Micro Center would be a better deal for getting both the MBA and the MBP.
