Does the button on the bottom have an LED built in?? (Push related)

One of the only things I miss about my blackberry was that I could see via its "indicator light" if I had a waiting text and/or email without turning the phone off "sleep".. Is there anything on the IPHONE that can accomplish this functionality?

There are no LEDs or status indicators on the iPhone

I hated the indicator on my BlackBerry Pearl. It was so distracting.
