I have a maxed out MacBook Pro 2016 15" (which is similar, although not identical to the 2017) and the fans rev up a little bit when connected to a 4K display as it's always using the dGPU. Currently they're spinning at 2200 and 2400 rpm.
You won't hear them, though, unless you're in an extremely quiet room.
