My wife has a 5s and in the health app it calculates her steps and calories burned. On my 4S this doesn't work..... is it even compatible with this app? I don't know why Apple would have that app even available to 4S users if it doesn't work or am I missing something here?

Nope, the 4s doesn't have the M7 needed to use the health app.

As above said, no motion chip. But can use Health app with other tracking apps and devices and manual inputting. So that's why it's included.

the 4S still collects data like steps and walking distance but because it doesn't have an M7 or M8, it really digs into your battery. And because it doesn't have an M8 specifically, it can't detect elevation to determine how many flights of stairs you've walked up and down.
