Mine arrives on Wednesday, but I'm curious as to whether the HomePod has an actual front or whether it determines the 'front' based on where it's located. Common sense would suggest the the cable sticks out the physical back of the unit and therefore the opposite site is the physical front, but does it matter? If you orient the speaker to point the cable off to one side does the HomePod simple calibrate a new 'front'?

This image clearly shows the front side.

And this one the back.

I would think whichever side the cable hooks in is the "back" side and so the diametrically opposite side to the cable would be the "front"?

But does it make any difference to the performance if the front faces the back or does the calibration just adjust the output from the tweeters to compensate?
