does the invisishield band around iphone work as well as case to stop dropped calls?

Had it on for a few days...did nothing for me. Took it off because it looked like garbage.

No. Hell no. I assume you mean the freebie skins from Best Buy? If so, they are so so at best. They are a little thicker than your regular side skins and are kind of grippy and not smooth like some other ones. For me, I had reception issues and would lose 4 bars when touching the corner. After putting the skins on, I only lost 3 bars

Not saying it works or it doesn't but, for me, it made a very small improvement in the reception.
