Does the iPad/iPad 2 support SPP Bluetooth Devices?

I'm interested in running an OBD app on my vehicle and have found that the Wifi dongles are significantly more expensive that their Bluetooth counterparts. I've read that iPhone does not use SPP, however I'm finding conflicting testimonials as to whether SPP is supported by the iPad.

Does anyone know if SPP is supported?

There is no Apple iOS device that supports SPP at this time.

Is this is limited to just the iPhone? Probably not.
