Hi,

I'm thinking about buying an iPad, and find holding hot devices uncomfortable. Considering both iPad sizes uses the same A7 chip, I'm wondering if the iPad mini retina gets hot while using it?

Can someone who ones the iPad mini retina comment on this?
Thanks!

Not really, unless you are restoring from a backup then you can feel a bit of heat.

I thought this was the case with mine. Only got hot on restore. But I played YouTube, one video in, and it got just as hot as it did on restore. You mind trying and seeing if it gets hot? Only the bottom half for some reason.

Been watching youtube vids for an hour now, no problems here.

Mine get really hot.

Just bought my 32GB model today. Was browsing around in the App Store looking for old app or game I installed on my old iPad mini. After 30min the whole iPad mini 2 get extremely hot. I can feel the extreme heat come off through my Smart Cover. It is no fun holding it without a cover because it is that hot.

Mine gets quite warm just above the bottom left corner on the reverse (the corner your right hand holds while in portrait mode with the screen facing you). Haven't been able to correlate it with particular tasks, but it's not always warm.

My retina mini is usually pretty good. However I do notice that it gets warm when I use it while it's charging, use it when it's at max brightness, or play like a heavily 3D game like Minecraft, Godus, and also Five nights at Freddy's (I believe 1 and 2) can result in a little heat even though it isn't really 3D. However I would expect any device to get warm from games. A bit of warmth is normal, but uncomfortably hot is nearing the 'not normal' side of things in my opinion. My mini 2 gets warm along the right side when holding in portrait.
