I currently have an iPad Air 11 M2 which from time to time overheats, I guess where the chip or battery is. It gets warm to the touch, sometimes more than others, but it gets annoying.

I was thinking of buying the 11 Pro, but want to check first if this is an "issue" also considering how thin it is plus a more powerful chip.

Thanks!

When you say "overheats" is the device actually indicating it's hot and needs to be cooled down or are you just saying that based on your personal feel of the device? iPads are a huge slab of battery and a powerful logic board, so under heavy use it will get on the warmer side during use.

Personal feel. I previously had an iPad Pro 11 M1 and never felt it get this hot, not one single time.

I had an iPad Air M2 11” previously and it always felt warm when writing with the Apple Pencil. I have a 13” Pro now and have never had that issue. Can’t speak for the 11” Pro.

But was your pro 11 on iPadOS 18 and newer? From what I have heard the heating started with 18. I have both the M1 and M2 and I don't see much difference between the 2 (the M4 instead is cooler)
