I have a black Iphone 4 and I plan on unlocking it for use with T-mobile and I was wondering if it will work with my T-mobile's 3g.

Interesting. I was going to use a T-Mobile sim in my iPhone 4 when I'm in the US for a couple of weeks this summer. Will I at least be able to make calls and text?

Yes, you'll be able to call and text, but only use Edge speeds for data, no 3G unfortunately.

This was the only reason why I switched to AT&T, I couldn't take the Edge crap.

Yup... If you could afford to pay AT&T or Verizon plans is definitely worth paying more than been limited to EDGE.

Yes so basically: calls and text, yes. 3G data, no. Edge data, yes.

I use edge on T-Mobile on the iPhone and find it perfectly acceptable, especially considering the cost difference. Would rather pay the grandfathered $5.99 T-zones plan instead of $30 for unlimited 3G on ATT.

$24 X 12 months = $288 a year savings. FTW

Yes, as long as the phone is unlocked *and* you have a microsim for it. If you do'nt have a microsim you can always trim down a regular SIM card and have it work. There are templates online that work well as well as sim-cutters on amazon.

The phone is not locked to any carrier.

Edge speeds I can handle as I'll likely not be using the net on it much as I'll be on holiday - maybe for the odd bit of Maps should I get lost or to lookup attractions on Safari etc.

I plan on triming down a regular sim if I can't find a microsim for cheap. (I've seen pre-trimed PAYG T-Mobile sims for sale.
