ie does it show AT&T if you're buying it to use on AT&T from the apple store?

Not Sure

How it works in the US, but here there is no carrier symbol on the phone boxes.

I bought mine SiIM free from Apple, but a friend who bought his on contract ( Virgin Media) also has no carrier branding on his box either. It's the SIM itself here in the UK so the box has no advertising regarding the carrier at all.

hm.. so if i were to buy one on craigslist, then i would have no idea which carrier works until i try my own sim on it

I couldve sworn on previous boxes before the iPhone went to Verizon, it would say AT&T where all the bar codes are listed

I think the phones are all the same and however they are sold on checkout is what makes the difference now.
