Does the iPhone display PNG picture files?

I would think so, but I was trying to import one single PNG onto my phone, but the picture wouldn't display, even though I knew I did it correctly through iPhoto.

So I changed the extention to .jpg, and the picture showed up afterward....

If you just changed the extension from .png to .jpg, was the picture actually a PNG file to begin with, or was it a JPEG all along?

It was a PNG, because the site I snagged the picture from said it was in PNG format.

Sounds like a bug to me, I find it strange that it wont work give safari displays it fine, and im sure they are using a similar code base for the photos application
