Okay, I've googled and googled and cannot for the life of me find any information on how the iPhone handles mic noise reduction when using a headset (i.e. the Apple-provided earphones, or some 3rd party earphones).

I've found a lot of info on how the iPhone does superior noise reduction when using the built-in mic, but does it also do this when using an external mic or no?

Anyone know?

Funny seeing this thread since I was just talking to my wife using the apple provided earpods and she said it was very noisy.. so from my experience there is no noise cancellation.

Edit: I always talk to her from the iPhone itself and never used the earpods til now. And it's noticable

no noise cancellation, because the phone has no idea what the design is of the headphones, or where the headphone mic is in relation to the mics on the iPhone. For that reason, it can't reliably tell what's noise and what's part of the conversation when you're using headphones with a mic.
