I'm thinking of getting an iPhone as my Palm Treo 650 no longer syncs properly since I upgraded my iBook G4 to Leopard. But, I was wondering, does the iPhone have a voice recorder so that I may record brief messages? Thanks.

Yes, part of OS 3.0.
 
Yeah, there have been ones via the app store since 2.x, and there were ones via J/B since 1.x, but with iPhone firmware 3.0, there's a native Apple voice recorder app....

Im not a huge fan of it when it comes to the speaker portion, but you can review your recordings through the ear piece like a phone call. The quality is great.
