this may be way off as i'm not a programmer, but if you could use symbolic links in the iPhone OS, why couldn't you put all of your jailbreak programs and settings in a single directory, copy that directory off the phone, upgrade the OS (to 3.0.1 in this case), jailbreak the phone again, copy the directory back on the phone, and use symbolic links to point to all your jailbroken data. it would be a pain in the ass to set up all the links the first time, but it wouldn't be much upkeep after that. perhaps there's a way to automate this?

i'm just trying to think of ways to not have to re-install everything and set everything back up after upgrading the OS.
